BESS / Battery Storage SPD

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) couple high-voltage DC battery racks, PCS converters and BMS electronics in outdoor containers that are fully exposed to lightning. BESS SPDs are installed on the DC bus between battery and PCS, on the auxiliary DC supplies and on BMS communication lines. LPES supplies DC SPDs rated 600 V to 1500 V DC to IEC 61643-31, with high short-circuit withstand for battery fault currents, plus IEC 61643-21 signal SPDs for CAN/RS485 BMS links, for grid-scale, C&I and solar-plus-storage projects.
