Exothermic Welding
Exothermic welding makes a permanent, molecular bond between earthing conductors, rods, strips, rebar and steel structures without an external power source — the joint is a fused copper alloy with a current-carrying capacity equal to or greater than the conductors themselves, and it never loosens or corrodes. IEEE 80 and IS 3043 recommend it for substation earth grids. LPES supplies weld powder cartridges (32 g to 250 g), graphite moulds for cable-to-cable, cable-to-rod, cable-to-strip and cable-to-steel joints, handle clamps, flint igniters and starter kits.
