Test Joints
A test joint (test clamp or disconnecting link) is fitted on every down conductor, usually 1–1.5 m above ground, so the earth electrode can be isolated from the LPS and its resistance measured during the periodic inspections required by IEC 62305-3 and IS 3043. LPES manufactures test joints for round-to-round, tape-to-tape and round-to-tape connections in copper alloy, GI and stainless steel, with captive bolts and optional protective housings, tested to IEC 62561-1 for full lightning current carrying capacity.
