DC Isolator Switch
A DC isolator switch lets technicians disconnect a PV string, combiner box or inverter DC input under full load for maintenance, as required by IEC 62548 and IS 16221. Unlike AC switches, it must break a sustained DC arc, so LPES DC isolators use multi-pole series contacts with arc chutes and are rated for 600 V, 1000 V and 1500 V DC at 16 A to 63 A per pole, in 2-pole and 4-pole DIN-rail and IP66 enclosed rotary versions with lockable handles, tested to IEC 60947-3 utilisation category DC-21B and DC-PV2.
