Franklin Rod / Air Terminal
Franklin rods and conventional air terminals are the IEC 62305-3 reference method for intercepting lightning: solid copper, copper-bonded, aluminium or stainless-steel rods of 16 mm to 25 mm diameter and 0.5 m to 3 m height, placed per the rolling-sphere or protective-angle method on roofs, chimneys, tanks and parapets. LPES manufactures single-point and multi-point air terminals with threaded bases, mounting plates, side-mount brackets and concrete bases, in materials matched to the down conductor to avoid galvanic corrosion.
