Insulated Down Conductor
Insulated (HVI) down conductors carry lightning current through a high-voltage-rated insulating sheath so that the conductor can be routed close to metal services, antennas, cable trays and people without the separation distance normally required by IEC 62305-3 clause 6.3. LPES supplies insulated down-conductor systems with equivalent separation distances of 0.45 m to 0.9 m in air, tested to IEC 62561-8, for telecom towers, rooftop plant rooms, hospitals, data centres and heritage buildings where a conventional bare conductor cannot be kept far enough from other services.
