Surge Backup Protector
A surge backup protector (SPD backup fuse or dedicated disconnector) is installed upstream of an SPD to isolate it safely at end of life or on short-circuit, without tripping the main incomer and without limiting the surge current the SPD must carry. LPES supplies coordinated backup protectors and gPV/gG fuse assemblies rated per the SPD manufacturer’s IEC 61643-11 and IEC 61643-12 selection tables, for Type 1, Type 2 and combination devices in 415 V panels.
